Matthew Lasar, Law & Disorder, Tech Law and Policy in the Digital Age, Congress held another hearing on Comcast’s proposed buyout of NBC Universal on Thursday, and as at earlier gatherings, the critics came out swinging. The merger will cost jobs, Communications Workers of America President Larry Roberts warned the House Judiciary Committee. As a result of debt incurred by the transaction, he contended, “the new entity will be under intense pressure to cut costs… Absent firm commitments from Comcast and NBC to maintain current employment levels, there is no reason to believe that the Comcast/NBC joint venture will not follow this pattern.”  http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2010/02/congress-told-that-comcastnbc-merger-a-big-crapshoot.ars
