IEP Remembers Armen Alchian, 1914-2013

It’s reported that economist Armen Alchian passed away on February 19, 2013 at the age of 98. Alchian was a UCLA professor and an influential economist who many–including Nobel Laureate Friedrich Hayek–thought deserved a Nobel Prize for his economic analysis of property rights. David R. Henderson profiled Alchian in the Wall Street Journal, which includes quotes from IEP Director–and Alchian’s former student–Thomas Hazlett. Armen Alchian and his tremendous influence on economic thought will be missed.
